Matthew D. Baird

I am a Senior Staff Economist at LinkedIn's Economic Graph Research Institute, where I lead the equity research program and conduct research around equity within labor markets globally using LinkedIn's unique data. Prior to this, I worked for 9 years at the RAND Corporation as an economist, including being Co-Director for the Center for Causal Inference and Professor of Public Policy at Pardee RAND Graduate School. 

My research focuses on using econometric methodology and economic modeling to infer causal relationships and evaluate policy in labor and human capital development, in particular among low-income and vulnerable populations.  My work also spans education policy and health access and outcomes. I have published dozens of journal articles and several RAND and Economic Graph reports, and have had my research cited thousands of times. I have a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles.
